Expansion of the Alexandra Academy Multi Academy Trust FAQ’s
A multi-academy trust (MAT) is a single entity established to work together to improve and maintain high educational standards across a number of schools. At the moment the Alexandra Academy MAT consists of Monks Coppenhall Academy and Monks Coppenhall Academy Day Nursery.
The MAT is accountable for the performance of each school in the group, although each can still have their own governing body which operates subject to delegation of power from the MAT.
- School leaders and teachers can share thinking and planning to spread expertise and tackle challenges together. Shared professional development can more easily be arranged, whether led by staff from one of the partner schools or an outside body.
- School budgets are always being stretched, collective purchasing made possible within larger groups and shared services can help schools cope better with shrinking budgets. The money saved on supplies and services can then be put back into teaching.
- Groups of schools can find it easier to find and fund specialist expertise in order to provide richer curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The day to day running of the school will remain fundamentally the same. Changes will be made to the governance structure with new lines of accountability added.
- Any savings made will be invested in further resource for your child’s education.
- Shared resources and expertise will enrich the curriculum for your child and opportunities may arise for children to work across partner schools.
