The School Day
Before School
The Site Manager opens the Academy at 7.00am. The gate to the playground is unlocked by the Caretaker from 8.35 am.
Please note that parents/carers using the estate gate are required to remain behind the barrier and not enter the Key Stage 2 playground.
Early Years and Key Stage 1
- Early Years and Key Stage 1 parents/carers should supervise their child on the playground until the doors open at 8.45am. There are two members of staff on the Key Stage 1 door to welcome the children and take any messages from parents/carers for the class teachers.
- Early Years parents/carers are encouraged to personally hand their children over to a member of Early Years staff at the Early Years’ gate. The member of staff will take any messages from parents/carers for the class teacher.
Key Stage 2
- The Key Stage 2 playground is unsupervised until 8.35am. Therefore, we ask that children do not come onto the playground before this time.
- In Key Stage 2, from 8.35am children are the responsibility of the Academy and staff are on duty on the playground from that time to welcome the children. There is a member of staff on the Early Years gate to welcome the children and take any messages from parents/carers for the class teachers.
If it is raining, the duty teachers will bring the children in; other teachers will go to their classrooms and supervise their classes as the children arrive. On dry days, the whistle will be blown at 8.45am for Key Stage 2. All staff will collect their children from the playground.
Home Time
Early Years and Key Stage 1
- Early Years and Key Stage 1 children finish at 3.15pm each day.
- A password is required for the collection of Early Years and Key Stage 1 children. It is important that this system is implemented, especially if a child is being collected by a different person from the agreed list. If there is any doubt/concern about the adult collecting the child, then the child will be kept and the adult will be asked to go to the main entrance.
Key Stage 2
- There are designated waiting areas in the KS1 playground for Year 3, 4 and 5 children which are sign-posted for parents/carers.
- Key Stage 2 children finish at 3.15pm.
- Children are reminded of the procedures, if no-one comes to collect them – they should come back and inform a member of staff.
