Governance
Monks Coppenhall Academy and Nursery is part of the Alexandra Academy Trust. The Trust’s mission is to ensure that children leave the Trusts’ schools happy, well equipped for the next phase in their educational journey and ready to make a positive contribution to society. The Trust’s three core values are integrity, excellence and co-operation.
As part of the Trust’s governance structure, Monks Coppenhall Academy has a local governing body (LGB) which oversees local governance. It is made up of volunteers from the local community, parents, the Principal and staff.
The LGB is focused on the individual school context and their role includes:
· Monitoring standards and achievement within the school
· Monitoring the school budget and ensuring money is well spent
· Engaging with stakeholders to improve outcomes
· Supporting and positively challenging school leaders
Each local governor takes responsibility for monitoring a particular area and holds the school’s leadership to account by providing challenge and support within an agreed framework. The LGB meet three times a year.
